Student Support Centre

The Student Support Centre provides a range of support programmes to ensure that all students are assisted in their learning where necessary.

In addition to a numeracy, literacy and life skills programme, the Centre has a team of experienced Teaching Assistants who work in the mainstream classes at all year levels.  They can assist students with their learning, studies and problem solving skills.

All types of learning difficulties are catered for at Orewa College by way of modified courses, lisison with teachers and specialists and provision of Individual Education Plans where appropriate.

The Centre also provides study options, reader/writers for exams, student referral group meetings, Reading Mileage Programme, Toe by Toe, work experience and a social skills group for students with Aspergers. 

The concept of Manaaki and Ako Orewa are applied across all aspects of the support programmes for all students.
